Willpower

Most people think that to lose weight you must have willpower.  That’s somewhat true, but I’m going to tell you why you already have the right amount of willpower to get the job done.

Have you ever graduated from a school? Have you ever held a job? Have you been in a relationship over a couple months? Do you have kids? Without willpower you would have not been able to do any of these things or would have failed miserably at them.

To lose weight we need willpower and discipline, but those may only  represent about 20% of the tools required. Remember the last time you mustered up all your willpower and discipline and started a diet. It lasted about 3 days.

To lose weight over the long haul and to keep it off you need a more complex strategy than just brute willpower. After all, you are fighting against a genetic disorder.

You must have a plan (written is best). You must be realistically willing to change some behaviors. You must realize that this is not a short term fix. You must dedicate enough time and energy to develop new habits.

The work of weight loss can be reduced with a regimented eating plan, a specific and slowly progressing exercise schedule, balancing of your metabolic and hormonal functions, and understanding your psychological makeup.

These tools are available and have worked for thousands of patients. If you are frustrated with your current weight, then believe that there is method to make the work easier and even pleasurable.

Our Crush Your Fat Genes plan incorporates the full spectrum of weight loss and weight maintenance tools. I will break down these tools over my next few blogs. See you then

  Questions

Everyday we get questions from our patients and from those who want to lose weight who come to us for a consultation.

The Big Picture

We are now tired of being overweight and have made the decision to lose excess body fat and get to a leaner place.

Never Alone

When we make the personal decision to start losing weight and get healthy, it's typically done in a quiet conversation inside our head.  We don't trumpet this decision to the world.

The Little Things

We want to lose weight now and lots of it.  We are disappointed if we only lose 8 pounds in a month.  We go for any program that promises big and fast weight loss.
