Stuck and Reframe

 
     My patients tell me every day that they just want to have more energy, look better, be able to wear more stylish clothes, get into a smaller size jean, feel better, breathe easier, lower their abnormal medical markers, feel like they did years ago, be more confident, break under 200 pounds, keep up with their kids or grandkids, stop hiding in the crowd, and I could go on and on.
 
     What they are really saying is that they are sick and tired of being overweight and feeling like they are to blame.  When we have all of this swimming around in our head, we are most likely in Stuck mode.  To get unstuck, we must first change our thinking and our attitude.  We must Reframe what we are focusing on.  If our frame around our lives constantly focuses on what we don't want, it will be nearly impossible to break free from this disease.
 
     Instead,  we must focus and frame our thought around what we do want.  This is the frame of possibility.  I know you can become who and what you want to become, including a thinner more vibrant you.  I acknowledge that the struggle is real and that to overcome our fat genes takes a treatment plan, commitment, and daily action.  Sure, not every day will be good, but every day will be on purpose.
 
     Instead of being stuck, Be On-Purpose.  Each and every day when the opportunity clock wakes you, you will be On-Purpose with your body changing goals.  It won't take all of your time, but it will take effort at the right times.  Unless we change our thinking we cannot change our weight.  We all know we must eat less and get more physical activity.  We all know that our metabolism and hormones change throughout life.  We all know that when we lose significant weight, the fight is not over.
 
     I want you to know that you are not alone in this fight.  I not only work to assist overweight patients each and every day, but struggle with it myself each and every day.  I acknowledge your concerns, your efforts, and your frustrations, but I also encourage your consistency to the goal.  The ones that will feel strong and amazing, look marvelous in their clothes, have all the energy they need to live life well, and achieve the body they desire, are the ones that will never, never, never give up and learn each day how to do it better tomorrow.  Now, let's do it better tomorrow.

Many Measures

Many of my patients and people, in general, get fixated on the scales.  I think the scales are important and tracking our body weight is a great measure of getting leaner.
