Go The Distance

We overestimate what we can accomplish in one month, but we underestimate what we can accomplish in a year.  With weight loss, we all want to lose every excess pound of fat we have in the first month (if not the first week).  That's not realistic and we logically understand that. When we persist for a year at a reasonable program, we can literally change our life and our bodys to be in the top few percent of health for our age.

The problem we run into as we attempt to work at body improvement over the long haul is boredom, discomfort, and loneliness from not being a part of our typical crowd.  We feel uncomfortable doing something that is counter to our friends and family.  We feel alone in our effort and we become easily disappointed with the slightest waiver from our goal.  We step on the scale and "OMG" we are up a pound.  This often becomes reason enough to abandon the dietary regimen that is making us healthy and fit.

Our lives are now a part of the instant gratification society.  I want my coffee now, my burger now, my Amazon package now, my money now, and everything else we want NOW.  When we don't get it now, we become irritated.  I want to be thin now!  Not going to happen.  It's easier to ditch the project than it is to continue to move forward in our quest.

When we learn to be patient with our body and take control of our mind, we can accomplish anything.  We all have the mental and emotional power to stay focused on our weight loss effort.  We must set a realistic goal for each month and stick to the plan we have made to eat less, exercise more, and enjoy the journey.  We can convince our minds that the process and journey of losing weight is a pleasurable experience.  Once we feel excitement and joy in our day to day weight loss efforts, then we can stay the course for as long as it takes.

Take a moment to think about your current weight and how much you need to lose to again feel your best, look your best, and be your best.  Then find or devise a plan of calorie restriction and progressively increasing activity to start the fat burning process.  If you need a plan, I'm happy to assist.  Once you have chosen your start date, begin.  Never stop, no matter what the day to day result.  Attach yourself to the process, not the result.

Get started, keep going, and a year from now you will be amazed at your healthy, fit, and great looking body.  You will be the talk of your crowd and they will be amazed by your success.  You will be the new example of health for all of those in your circle. You will have learned a great deal about yourself and will have set in motion a process that will allow you to accomplish anything you want the rest of your life. I know you can do this.

The Path to Excellence

We are all on a path through life.  In fact, we get to choose the path we take.  As we travel down the path there are many forks and turn offs to other paths.

Self Talk

We all talk to ourselves.  There have  been times when I thought, "Am I the only one who talks to myself and am I crazy?"

Regrets

My mentor Jim Rohn stated:  " We all must suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.  The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons".

Personal Power

We are in control.  I realize that many people don't believe this.  When I say we are in control, I'm talking about control of our lives and our actions.

Adventure

Our days have become pretty routine.  The time we get up, when we eat, our work, what we do in our spare time, the shows we watch on TV, the friends we have, and even the clothes we wear are pretty unchanging.

Testosterone in Women

When most people talk about sex hormones, they discuss estrogen and progesterone for women and testosterone for men.
