4 Minute Mini-Walks

Do you hate to exercise?  I have a patient that says she’s allergic to sweat?  Whatever your reason for not wanting to exercise and there are thousands we can come up with, it is imperative that you must increase your physical activity if you plan to get and maintain a thinner, healthier body.  The problem is that when we think of exercise we think of the times we underwent the most rigorous training and the sore muscles and the intense fatigue and the effort involved.  Stop doing that and focus on a slight increase in your activity today with what I call the 4 Minute Mini-Walk.  If you currently do not exercise, then today get out of the chair or off the couch and either at work or at home walk around for 4 minutes exactly using a watch or clock. You’re not going for speed or time.  Your just walking around for 4 minutes. It could even be in a circle around the couch at home, but do it for 4 minutes.  Now do this everyday for a week.  After that do it twice a day. After that do it 3 times a day. After that increase to 6 or 8 minutes. You get the picture.  Success begets success.  Once you accomplish just getting off of the gluteus maximus ( our butt), you can ladder one success onto another.  You can take the 4 Minute Mini-Walk to a new habit of daily exercise and physical activity over a period of time.  So come on.  Get started now.  As “Nike” says…. “Just Do It”.
